Q5: Why is it called 50% energy saving sports field light?

Because in sports and recreation lighting it can save over 55% energy when compared with Metal halides or HID lamps. This results in slashing lighting power bills by half. In fact a lot more.

Q6: Which light is the best for sports field lighting?

Well, its Auslamps PLS as the lighting quality is far superior, its close to sun light making it the most preferred by players and spectators. It gives the best lighting environment.

Q7: What is Sulphur Plasma Light?

Auslamps PLS Plasma lighting system is a sulphur Plasma light, The sulfur lamp consists of a golf ball sized fused quartz bulb containing several milligrams of sulphur powder and Argon gas at the end of a thin glass spindle. The bulb is enclosed in a microwave-resonant wire-mesh cage known as cavity resonator. A magnetron much like the ones in home microwave ovens bombards the bulb, via a wave guide, with 2.45 GHz microwaves. The microwave energy excites the gas which in turn heats the sulphur to an extreme degree forming a brightly glowing Plasma capable of illuminating a large area. Because the bulb heats considerably, it is necessary to provide forced air cooling to prevent it from melting. The bulb is placed at the focus of parabolic reflector to direct all the light in one direction.

Q1: What is LED Lighting?

Q2: What are the benefits of LED lighting?

Q3: How is Auslamps LED lighting superior?

Q4: Do LED lights contain mercury?

Q5: How much energy do they save?

Q6: Why is LED lighting so expensive?

Q7: How is LED lighting economical then?

Q8: Do LED lights flicker?

Q1: What is LED Lighting?

An LED, in contrast, is a semiconductor diode. It consists of a chip of semiconducting material treated to create a structure called a p-n (positive-negative) junction. When connected to a power source, current flows from the p-side or anode to the n-side, or cathode, but not in the reverse direction. Charge-carriers (electrons and electron holes) flow into the junction from electrodes. When an electron meets a hole, it falls into a lower energy level, and releases energy in the form of a photon (light).

Q2: What are the benefits of LED lighting?

Long lamp life - last up to 50,000 hrs.
Low maintenance - due to long lamp life, almost maintenance free.
Good light - you get in all colour temperatures meaning in warm white cool white and daylight.
Very efficient you get 80 lm/w sometimes higher depending on chip quality and luminaire construction.
Environmentally friendly

Q3: How is Auslamps LED lighting superior?

Auslamps LED lighting, uses a high quality Bridge lux chip imported from USA, better design and construction of luminaires, You will easily notice the quality when you compare with another product in the market.

Q4: Do LED lights contain mercury?

No LED lights do not contain mercury, so are environment friendly.

Q5: How much energy do they save?

When compared with incandescent and Halogens they can save to the tune of 93% or more. They save lot more than CFL`s too.

Q6: Why is LED lighting so expensive?

LED lighting is expensive more because of manufacturing costs.

Q7: How is LED lighting economical then?

Well, the energy savings is huge, cannot be ignored and the long life span reduces the maintenance costs significantly, future energy bills will only go higher considering all of these, LED lighting is a very good solution.

Q8: Do LED lights flicker?

They do not flicker, but however if they are connected to the wrong drivers they will flicker.

Q1: What is the advantage of retrofitting?                                           move top

Retrofitting saves more money. Saves on material, time and labour, can be done with minimum hindrance, prolong needless land fill, the wiring changes made hold good for replacing with LED tubes as well.

Q2: How does Sheer Brite show great savings?

The main energy savings are derived by using a highly innovative super energy efficient electronic ballast. The Sheer Brite consumes about 23 w where as the conventional T8 has 36 w tube and ballast losses of 10 w so consumes about 46 w.
additional savings
The built-in reflector reflects the light down, where it is needed most, giving you better light output. If lighting levels are far above the requirement of the minimum Australian standards, then delamping may be carried out..

Q3: What should I do if the tube is not working, do I need to replace the whole unit?

No, you will need to replace only the tube.

Q4: Where can I buy T5 tubes?

T5 tubes are available with all leading electrical suppliers.
We do stock them as well.

Q5: What sort of warranty do you provide?

Yes, We provide Standard one year warranty on the tube as well as the adapter.
Optional 2 yr warranty available. For extended warranty please contact our office.

Q6: Do you need to remove the redundant parts from the fittings?

The iron core ballast can be left connected, the capacitor needs to be disconnected and can be left, the starter & T8 tube needs to be removed and discarded. By leaving the electromagnetic ballast and capacitor in the fitting, you save time and money. However, if desired, they can be removed by a licensed electrician.

Q7: Do I need to engage a licensed electrician to install Sheer Brite?

No, if you can replace a tube then you can do it yourself. Make sure you turn off the power supply and take all precautions but if you are unsure engage a qualified person.
For large installations, We strongly recomend you engage the services of a licensed electrical contractor. The capacitor needs to be disconnected from circuit as it acts against the electronic ballast which will not only void the warranty but can be a strain on your electrical system.

Q8: Do you provide an installation service?

Yes, as an option, we can arrange to install.

Q9: Can I use my current electrician to install?

Yes, you may use your current electrician or your accredited electrical contractors.

Q10: What is WEEE?                                                                                   move top

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) legislation introduces new responsibilities for businesses and other non-household users of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE). This includes schools, hospitals, and government agencies, when they dispose of their electrical waste. These organisations will need to ensure that all separately collected WEEE is treated and recycled.

Q18: What is aT5 adapter and why is it used?                                         move top

The latest tubes are T5 these are smaller in diametr and shorter in length, old or standard T8 are of size 25mm in diameter and are longer by 50mm, In order to fit T5 tubes in T8 fixtures you need some kind of an adapter that holds 16 mm tubes and then an adapter of 25mm to go into std T8 fixtures/tombstones. T5 adapter is used to make T8 fluorescent fixtures more energy efficient.

Q19: What is a T5 convertor?

T5 adapters and convertors are the same, some people say adapters as they are used to adapt to T8, while others call converters as you can reduce fron T8 to T5 size or convert. T5 converters are used to get more energy savings fron T8 fluorescent fittings, without having to discard them.

Q20: What is a low energy fluorescent?

The std old fluorescent lights, of 4 ft length use 36 watt tube, the steel core ballasts has losses of 10 w so totally it draws 46 watts of power. Where as the recent ones the T5 run on 28 w or 22 w these energy saving luorescents, also sometimes known as low energy fluorescent lighting. They come with energy efficient electronic ballasts.

Q21: What are the advantages of Sheer Brite T5 22 w?

Well sheer Brite 22 w consumes 23 w saves 51% lighting energy where as 28 w consumes 30 w saves only 34% energy, The ROI is much faster on the 22 w. And there fore is value for money.
